Lady M (Mountaineer) In Life and Love

“She ain’t gonna chase after you, Sir. No she won’t. She’d rather chase after the sun. She wants you but doesn’t need you to survive but when she loves, she’ll love you as beautifully as the sunrise…”

.
Her happiness is not from her partner alone or the relationship. She has an arsenal of mountains, sunrises, sunsets, trails, fellow mountaineers and mother nature that equally makes her happy. No need to worry that she’s too dependent on her partner for happiness because to just be the sole source of happiness for someone would leave anyone exhausted, empty and bored.

She has her own life outside of the relationship.

Her kikay kit can easily be reduced to wet wipes, alcohol, cologne, tissue, towel, toothpaste and toothbrush. And she even have to share her alcohol with leeches. She can live without make-up. Hmm, great savings on a Mac’s eyeliner.

She ain’t afraid of bugs or insects. She even like one or two of the species. A cockroach or a rat won’t make her scream to high heavens or worse faint.

She knows a trick or two on survival. How to use a med kit and prepare one.

She has a lot of interesting, untold stories to tell. The weird reasons why some people decides to climb. Stories of ghost, love or the life of a young guide or just the story of some helmet crab. She could even crack a joke about her misadventures.

No dull moments indeed!

She doesn’t mind getting dirty and she can tolerate not getting a proper bath for straight three days. It’s those experiences that makes her appreciate a hot bath, a swim on the pool or just the balde-tabo type. She knows to appreciate little things some takes for granted.

She is always on the go. Spontaneity is another trait she carries around. Because once in a while, she just hitches on somebody else climb. It oftentimes makes a relationship more fun.

She embodies patience. She walked miles and miles to get to the top just to be greeted either with a summit of fog or a sunrise. She knows how to accept reality, when to take a step back and move on. She knows how to appreciate beauty.

.
She is passionate and goes all the way for something she wants. She learns how to help, when to need help. She’s practical.

She’ll find something amusing out of difficult circumstances or situations because she had learned to lighten things up when the going gets tough.

She knows the value of life because she’d been through deadly trails, churning rivers and survived. Realizing that life is a gift – a chance to live a more intense and meaningful life.

SHE ain’t gonna chase after you, Sir. No she won’t. She’d rather chase after the sun. She wants you but doesn’t need you to survive. But when she loves, she’ll love you as beautifully as the sunrise

She has a wider perspective, deep understanding and relationship of and with nature. She totally loves adventure. What could one do but seize up the mind, do a ten minute soul search or analyze the landscape while waiting for that sunrise or sunset? It’s the trait she naturally picks up.

She knows how to save because she appreciates hard earned money, gears can be expensive! But she knows how to negotiate, where to buy cheapest and she even hunts for that off-the-road shop. She learns to appreciate local brands. She’ll gladly exchange a branded bag for a good hiking bag or a pair of stilletos for a good high-cut hiking shoes without blinking an eye.

She has that light in her eyes when she speaks of her adventures or just life in general. Because she lives, she just doesn’t merely exist.

And when she chooses you, she’ll love you with all her might. Because she knows that like a beautiful sunrise, love is a gift and an opportunity to share life’s adventures.#

  2. Thanka for sharing this. ☺ i loved how you were able to capture the reality of lady mountaineers. And I have to agree, I would gladly trade an expensive handbag to a 40L pack and a good pair of hiking shoes. ☺ see you soon on the trails ☺ hope you can climb in Cebu.
