If someone will ask me to choose between an organized day hike vs a DIY/commute, I will always lean towards DIY/commute. If it is possible to DIY, I encourage you to do so. Of course, both has pros and cons ☺️ but overall, you contribute to the local community.
I fell in love with Mt. Masungki’s trail even the times we encountered a type of snake for three times! Yay, the second time it was directly laying on the trail and I just passed by it 😲 My friend said it was on an attack mode. Our guide said it is extremely venomous, it belonged to the banded type but after checking articles, it might not be dangerous at all.
The trail is covered with thick foliage, bamboo groves are also a mainstay and gosh! how I loved listening to the ruffling of its leaves with the breeze.

How to get to there by public transport:
Ride a jeepney from Cubao to Cogeo (intersection bet EDSA and Aurora blvd) in front of Mercury Drug, get off at gate 2 in front of a Jollibee branch. Walk that side street towards 7-11 where jeepneys bound for Sampaloc are waiting.
Get off at the signage at Brgy. Cuyambay, take a trike to the brgy hall for registration and guide arrangements. That done, take another trike to the jump-off.
